BUILD – HUFF, PUFF AND BLOW DOWN –
THE THREE LITTLE PIGS’ HOUSES
Please note: This doable will probably take several days to complete.
You will need (depending on how elaborate you want to get):
-
Straw (We found it on Amazon.com, but nurseries or local farms could have it as well.) Dried long plant leaves or stems might work too. In a pinch there are paper drinking straws.
-
Twigs, available in gardens and parks
-
Bricks (See “Form Clay” in “Resources”)
-
Grout or spackle to fill in around the bricks
-
Elmer’s glue
-
Cardboard or small pieces of wood for foundations, doors, and roofs
-
Cellophane for windows
-
Poster paint
After the three houses are built, make like the big bad wolf and try to blow them down. Are your houses staying firm? If so, you're a construction master! Hairdryers and fans are certainly fair to use.

(WhaddayaThink? Which creates the strongest airflow – blowing from your own lungs, waving a fan, using an electric fan or a hairdryer…?)
Here are the houses of straw, twigs and bricks that we built:
