STILL LIFE ART
“Still life” art focuses on unmoving objects – flowers in a vase, fruit in a basket, a pile of books or clothes, some furniture. It is up to the artist to make the objects come alive through how they are arranged and then painted, drawn, even photographed. For example:

Many famous artists have painted still lifes, such as Paul Cézanne:

and Vincent Van Gogh:

Andy Warhol painted Campbell Soup cans lined up in rows! (https://www.moma.org/learn/moma_learning/andy-warhol-campbells-soup-cans-1962/)
Of course, since this is “Playing With Your Food” WhaddaWeek, we should make our still life artwork about food, right?
You could draw a meal, or bananas laid out in a row, or cupcakes or cookies on a plate – anything you want as long as it is food-related. Use pencils, crayons, markers, paints, cut up paper for a collage – it is up to you.
I pulled some fruit, an avocado, red onion, egg, and ginger out of the refrigerator, and piled them into a glass bowl.

And then I tried to paint them so that they would be cheerful rather than serious, using bright colored glittery watercolors and swapping the glass bowl for a blue and white plate. You can kind of tell what they are, although the apple looks more like a tomato. Oh well. But it was fun to try!

Do you think this artwork should be displayed on the refrigerator door? Absolutely!
