COLOR ME SILLY

What do you get if you add food coloring to some very ordinary food?  Some pretty and some definitely weird looking stuff!

Each day this week, try adding some color to something that is liquid or semi-liquid in preparation for a meal.  And then come up with a name for your invention.  Perhaps you should get extra credit for especially pretty or especially gross creations!

What you need:

  • Food coloring

Here are some examples we tried:

Blue blueberry pancakes – Add the coloring to the liquids before adding the dry ingredients.

Polka dot peanut butter sandwiches – Just use cotton swabs dipped in food coloring.

Purple wormy rice â€“ This one is particularly gross!  Put food coloring in the water as you cook the rice.

St. Patrick’s Favorite Spaghetti â€“ Again, just put food coloring in the water as you cook the spaghetti.

Spring Banana Bonanza â€“ Super easy.  Whip up a cup of whipping cream, add a tablespoon of sugar, mix in 2 to 3 thinly sliced bananas, add food coloring if you want, and put in the freezer for at least 6 hours.  It’s plenty for 6 people.

Marmalade milk for cereal â€“ Adding food coloring to the milk before it is added to a bowl of cereal can either be a great or icky way to start a day!
