BUILD A LOG CABIN

Some early homes, hundreds of years ago, were made of whole logs cut from straight trees.  The logs were stacked, often with notched corners to fit tighter, sometimes using dowels (not nails), with sticks, rocks, and mud pressed into the gaps between them.

President Abraham Lincoln was born and lived as a child in a log cabin.

Can you build one?  We made one using:

  • Brown paper straws cut to size for the logs

  • Cream cheese frosting from a can for filler

  • Painted cardboard for the roof.
